The Ryuukou Hounan Festival is held every year from September 11 to 13, commemorating the "Ryu no Kuchi Hounan" when Nichiren escaped execution in 1271. The evening of the 12th is particularly lively with lantern offerings and stalls in front of the temple.
A highlight of the event is the "Nannokke no Botamochi" (rice cake for warding off misfortune) thrown inside the hall at 6 PM on the 12th and at midnight on the 13th. It is believed that receiving this rice cake will help attendees avoid hardships for the year. Access via the Enoden train line is convenient, so please consider visiting.
