The Tsurugaoka Hachimangu Shrine Grand Festival will take place over three days from September 14 to 16, 2026. This festival preserves the traditions of the Hōjō-e and the yabusame ceremony initiated by Minamoto no Yoritomo, celebrating the arrival of autumn with various religious rituals and performances.
The first day begins with a Yoimatsuri evening festival, featuring a tea ceremony, wadaiko drum performances, and a choir concert. The solemn grand festival takes place on the second day, with a mikoshi portable shrine parading through the local area. The final day showcases the yabusame ceremony, where you can witness the skillful archery of traditional archers.
